Commit to Be Fit: Why Consistency is Key

Getting active and leading a healthy lifestyle is one of the best things you can do for both your physical and mental wellbeing. But it’s not always easy to stay motivated. Some days, finding the energy and willpower to work out feels impossible. So why is consistency with exercise so important for achieving results?

It comes down to the power of habit and building momentum over time. The more you integrate movement into your regular routine, the easier it becomes. Starting to exercise is like riding a bike uphill – it slowly gets less difficult as you find your rhythm and commit to regular workouts.

I like to think of going to the gym as an important self-care activity that energizes my whole day. Even when you really don’t feel like working out, do your best to overcome that initial resistance instead of talking yourself out of going. Chances are, you’ll feel fantastic afterwards and proud that you stuck to your commitment.

It’s human nature that inspiration and dedication to fitness goals will ebb and flow. So be prepared that you won’t always be 100% motivated. Cut yourself some slack on harder days. Then get back at it the next day if you need to take more rest.

Over time, the compounded effects from small consistent efforts lead to incredible gains. By persistently showing up – even when you don’t feel like it – you build workout consistency into an effortless habit. You’ll be amazed that what once seemed impossible will become second nature.

So don’t get discouraged if progress feels slow. Trust that fitness consistency will unlock your strongest, healthiest and happiest self over time. You absolutely can make exercise a lifelong pillar of self-care. Just commit to keep showing up with a “never give up” attitude to feel the full benefits in body, mind and spirit!
